Chartered Market Technician
Approved Advisor

My name is Seamus Foley. A qualified Analyst, Chartered Market Technician, Trader, previously a qualified financial advisor and I hold a BA Honours Degree in Business.

I have two decades of experience in trading and investing, my career has encompassed roles in both Ireland and England. I began my journey as a proprietary trader for owner Brian McCarthy of Fexco, an Irish investment company located in Killorglin County Kerry twenty two years ago, where I honed my trading skills over seven years and completed my CMT designation. This was followed by a six-year tenure  as a trader at the hedge fund Quality Capital Management in Weybridge, Surrey, England.

In 2018 , I returned to Ireland and build my own dream home amidst the beautiful surroundings of Killarney national park in County Kerry. For the past six years, I have been working as a commodity trader for Centrica's Bord Gais Energy.

I have coached traders in both England and Ireland for the last eleven years for my employers QCM and Centrica. In addition to my corporate role, I manage funds privately for a select group of high-net-worth individuals, maintaining a personal commitment to the markets.

Trading is extremely challenging. Through my career, I've experienced the full spectrum from losses and large drawdowns to thankfully a long road to consistent profitability.  Thanks in part to the guidance of great mentors and my continued education through this time.

For the first few years of my career, I made exactly the same mistakes as most traders do, such as not setting stops, ignoring larger trends, emotional trading and getting out of winning trades to early, these all lost me and my employers money.

However, every situation—good or bad—provides valuable lessons, the penny eventually dropped for me. I took massive action, righted my wrongs and I made the changes necessary to succeed. I have found it is not what happens to us, but how we deal with it that truly matters in trading and in life too.

Your journey will often be winding and opaque, I will help you find direction as you focus on your strategy, analysis, risk and discipline. Having an accountability partner, il help identify areas for improvement and implement action plans that ultimately increase profitability and cut or in some cases eradicate losses.

I realised my passion is helping individuals find their inner resources and personal path to a more free and fulfilling life. Many of life's failures are people who did realise how close they were to success before they gave up.

I love learning. I have noticed I am happiest when I'm growing and the process never ends. I regularly engage in critical thinking and questioning the status quo which helps in trading. I believe if I truly help others it will come back to me. Each person is unique and my work in understanding and empathizing with others problems is one of my strengths, as I have been on the journey you are taking today!

I enjoy spending time in nature and with my family and friends, reading factual books, and learning about myself. I frequently travel, which I love to do. For the past twenty-two years I have been an avid surfer. I also like to go skiing and snowboarding in the winter. I played both underage and senior Gaelic football with the Kerry County team, and I continue to be an avid fan.
